The Larson Legacy — Introduction
Well, I figured out how to get a better performance out of my graphics card, which means that I’m back playing a legacy. I wanted this "story" to be separate from the Camelot Cove stories because it’s entirely different in theme, and I like organization. At any rate, forgive the lack of creativity in the name. I created the family before I wound up deciding that I was going to play him in a legacy, and I forgot to change the name. Oooops!
So, to get started, let’s meet Caleb Larson:
Caleb is a Romance sim (yeah, a GREAT way to start out, isn’t it!?) with a personality of:
Neat: 9
Shy: 2
Active: 6
Playful: 3 (I don’t know what the opposite of playful is — can somebody please clue me in?)
Nice: 5
He has a lifetime want which is also an impossible want: To have twenty simultaneous lovers. That is NOT an easy task with a legacy sim, but I’m definitely going to try to acheive it for him, even if it means killing off his first lover (which I hate doing!).
Before I continue, let me tell you a little bit about the handicaps I’ve chosen for this legacy. They are as follows:
Do it yourself: 1 pt
Patriarchy: 1 pt
One Way Street: 1 pt
Storyteller: 1 pt
So that’s four points for handicaps for this legacy. I have no doubt that I can follow these through because normally I would do that anyway. I’m glad that I didn’t choose strict family values like I normally would — starting out with a romance sim I would have failed right from the start!
Now, on to the story of our founder, Caleb!
I forgot to mention Calypso, Caleb’s cat. Her stats are:
Moderately intelligent
Hyper
Moderately Friendly
Cowardly
Finicky
Or at least that’s what SimPE says. I’m fairly certain that’s wrong and I’ll be having a look in the game later on to double-check that.

The first person to come visiting is Tiffany Zarubin, with the garden club. I’m pretty sure that Caleb isn’t going to be starting a garden, at least not while he’s an adult (perhaps when he retires from his job…), but I figured that letting him meet with her would be a bonus for later one when he’s trying to collect lovers. She’s not "breeder" material (obviously, she’s an elder), so after he greeted her I had him send her away again. They will talk later!
I did build Caleb a little house right away. Contrary to popular belief, it CAN be done in a legacy, and I have done it on several occasions. So what if he didn’t have a bed, but rather just a couch? He got by just fine.
Anyway, I had him sit down on the couch and check the paper for jobs. He very quickly found a job in Law Enforcement, which was good. But to get a promotion, he needed a body skill point, which was not so good. Anyway, I bought him a radio and he worked out to the music, which actually caused him to get his first promotion the very next day.
I’m missing a bunch of pictures, mostly because I have to edit my settings to take them without crashing my game, and also because if I don’t put my settings on low before snapping pictures, they look like crud.
Anyway, Caleb met Benjamin Long, Marissa Bendett and Brandi Latourneau with the welcome wagon. I chose Brandi as his partner, as I’ve been fooling around a lot with Marissa lately and she’s gotten boring.
Lots more missing pictures later… They had two dates before they were in love, and Caleb moved her in without proposing either engagement or marriage. Why? Because he’s a romance sim and I don’t feel like dealing with the breakup! They were pregnant the first time they did woo hoo. Here’s Brandi making the bed when she first popped:
As you can see, at this point I hadn’t changed her hair or clothing at all. I’ve got some major lack of clarity in the Maxis-made clothing and hair items and I’m not really sure why. I’m going to have to double-check settings to see.
At this point, we’re literally at the end of generation one. The next pictures I took were actually of the birth of generation two!
Current Points:
Founder Caleb: .5
Family Friends: .75
Breed Founder Calypso: .5
That’s a whopping grand total of 1.75 points! Could be better, but we’re going to work on that as the next generation comes into play! Unfortunately I’m editing this after accidentally closing the window on my draft of the first chapter of Generation Two. I’m going to come back in and post it later.
